Juli
Huffman, Shepherd
Juli Huffman grew up in southern Indiana and was a 10-year 4-Her in Greene County. After leaving Purdue University with a degree in animal science she worked in the meat packing industry for 11 years and had an independent club lamb flock and herd of dairy goats near Bloomfield, Indiana. She joined the VIP team in the fall of 2008. Juli is a licensed judge with the American Dairy Goat Association and travels to shows around the country. Jerry and Juli crossed paths while attending Purdue. They were both on Purdue's livestock judging team and were active members of the Block and Bridle livestock club. The teamwork began back in college when they performed an undergraduate research project under the direction of Dr. Deana Hancock and Dr. Mike Neary. Their project focused on the use of yeast and natural additives in growing lamb diets and the effects on carcass characteristics. The research was published in the Journal of Animal Science and the team attended the annual Society of Animal Science meetings in Orlando, FL to discuss their research.
The VIP team is ready to help you with the selection and exhibition of your animal through our experiences, resources, genetics, and consultation. In 2008 VIP hosted a lamb camp and training workshop. The event focused on showing your animal to its best advantage and touched on the topics of nutrition, selection, grooming, dress, show ring etiquette, and common showmanship questions.
